On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FITK) at UIN Walisongo Semarang hosted a special guest lecture for the International Class Program (ICP) on the topic of Academic Essay Writing. The lecture, held in room N7, featured Dr. Makmur Harun, S.Ag., M.Let., Ph.D., an esteemed Indonesian lecturer currently teaching in Malaysia. Dr. Makmur is also the Chair of CEL KODELN, part of the Malaysian BUDIMAN Writers Association. His expertise in academic writing and his extensive experience in fostering cross-cultural education made him an ideal speaker for this event. The lecture targeted third- and fifth-semester students majoring in English Language Education at FITK UIN Walisongo, aiming to enhance their understanding of academic essay writing in an international context.

Throughout the session, Dr. Makmur shared valuable insights into the techniques and strategies for crafting compelling academic essays, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking, clarity, and structure. The interactive session encouraged students to ask questions and discuss the challenges they face in academic writing. Dr. Makmur also highlighted the significance of cultural sensitivity and adaptability in presenting arguments to diverse audiences, skills essential for students in an international program.
