English Language Education Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) UIN Walisongo Semarang took part in the Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum Preparation training activity at the review stage of the curriculum expert, Prof. Handoyo Widodo, MA, Ph.D. , The event held in Salatiga City from 19 to 21 July 2024.
In this event, the Head of the English Language Education Study Program at FITK UIN Walisongo, Dra. Nuna Mustikawati Dewi, M.Pd, emphasized the importance of preparing an Outcome Based Educatiton curriculum to improve the quality of education. “This event aims to develop a curriculum that is responsive to scientific developments and is more effective and in line with the current needs of the world of education,” said Nuna.
The main speaker at this event, Prof. Handoyo Puji Widodo, MA, Ph.D., conveyed how important it is to implement OBE in the education curriculum. “The implementation of Outcome Based Education starts from formulating a scientific vision, learning outcomes, graduate profiles, to formulating international standard courses. “This is very important to create graduates who have competencies according to the needs of early childhood education institutions,” explained Handoyo.
In preparing the Outcome Based Education curriculum, the ASEAN curriculum expert provided various concrete inputs that could be implemented in the learning process. He also discussed the importance of a scientific vision and graduate profile that is in accordance with an OBE-based curriculum that is suitable for application in developing countries. Through this preparation, it is hoped that OBE curriculum tools can be obtained that are in accordance with world curriculum standards. This event is an important first step in efforts to improve the preparation of the OBE curriculum for the PBI Study Program towards international standards
